Many professionals I work with have had training on trauma and the brain, but application is still murky. When we mix in attachment science, it can feel even more overwhelming. That is why this course exists. I have seen the profound impact of shifting to this brain-based practice, and I want to share that with you! 

When I started working with kids and families in the world of foster care and adoption, I realized I did not have the skills and knowledge I needed to do my job well. Good grades in graduate school didn’t prepare me for the messy world of generational trauma and grief that I was walking into. Then I found the power of “putting the brain in treatment.” I have been incredibly fortunate to work closely with clinical psychologist, author, and serious brain nerd Jonathan Baylin, Ph.D. After learning from him for a little while, we both realized we could do some fantastic work together. This course was born out of that partnership.

This course will help you apply the principles set forth in The Neurobiology of Attachment-Focused Therapy (Baylin and Hughes, 2016). You will gain a framework for understanding the brain that you can take with you into your work with children, teens, and families. We will spend our time digging into the meat of each chapter of The Neurobiology of Attachment-Focused Treatment with an emphasis on putting it in practice. Each session builds on the last to create a rich continuing education experience with benefits that last a lifetime.

I highly encourage you to attend live to get the most out of the interactive elements of the training, but I understand unexpected obstacles sometimes arise. As a courtesy, a recording of each session will be available to view until the next one airs.

Continuing Education Certificates of Attendance will be provided in PDF format along with a handout on course material and my CV. While this has been sufficient for CEUs toward license updates in years past, we cannot guarantee that individual licensing boards will accept this certificate for continuing education credit.
